Site Graph: Visualise Your Site Structure and Link Flow

Use the Site Graph page to explore your site as a network: nodes are pages, edges are links. Zoom, search, and click nodes to see status, issues, and traffic. Find hubs, orphans, and weak spots for better SEO and internal linking.

The Site graph page shows your property as a link graph: each crawled page is a node, and each link between pages is an edge. You can zoom, pan, search for a URL, and click nodes to see details (status, issue count, traffic). It helps you understand site structure, find hub pages and orphans, and improve internal linking for SEO and traffic.

Sections and how to use them

Graph view

  • Canvas — The main area is a force-directed or similar layout of nodes and edges. Node size often reflects “importance” (e.g. in-degree, traffic, or both). Node colour may indicate health: e.g. green = healthy, amber = has issues, red = non-200. Edges are links (internal or external; sometimes only internal are shown).
  • Zoom and pan — Use mouse/trackpad to zoom in and out and to pan. Buttons for Zoom in, Zoom out, and Fit (reset view) are often in a corner. Use them to focus on a cluster or to see the full site at once.
  • Labels — Node labels usually show URL path or title. They may appear or hide based on zoom level to avoid clutter. Hover or click to see more.

Use the graph to get a visual sense of which pages are well-linked (hubs) and which are isolated (orphans or weak spots).

Search and focus

  • Search — A search box lets you type a URL or keyword. The graph may highlight matching nodes and dim others, or focus the camera on the match. Use search to find a specific page and see its neighbours and link structure.
  • Click a node — Clicking a node often opens a detail panel or tooltip with: URL, title, HTTP status, issue count, word count, inlinks/outlinks, and sometimes Search Console or Analytics metrics (clicks, sessions). From there you can open in app (page viewer) or open in browser.

Use search and click to go from “this cluster looks important” to “this URL has 5 issues and 100 inlinks—I’ll fix it first.”

Legend and filters (when available)

  • Colour legend — Explains what green/amber/red (or other colours) mean (e.g. status, issue count). Use it to prioritise which nodes to fix.
  • Filters — Some graphs let you filter by status, issue count, or traffic so you see only e.g. “pages with issues” or “top 100 by sessions”. Use filters to reduce noise and focus on problem or high-value pages.

Performance and size

Large sites (thousands of URLs) may show a subset of nodes or a simplified graph for performance. If you don’t see a URL, use Webpages or Reports for the full list; use the graph for structure and pattern discovery.

How the Site graph helps traffic and SEO

  • Internal linking — See which pages are hubs (many inlinks) and which are dead ends (few inlinks). Use the dedicated Internal Linking page for anchor text issues and suggested source→target links; use the graph for visual exploration.
  • Orphans — Orphan pages appear as isolated nodes or with very few edges. Use the graph together with the Reports Orphan tab to find and fix them.
  • Structure and silos — Clusters in the graph often correspond to sections (e.g. /blog/, /docs/). Check that key sections are well connected to the homepage and to each other so crawlers and users can reach important content.
  • Priority — Combine node colour (issues, status) with size (traffic or inlinks) to decide which pages to fix first: high-traffic pages with issues, or low-inlink pages that should be better linked.

Use the Site graph after a crawl when you want a structural view. Combine with Webpages (for the full list and sort/filter), Reports (orphans, unlinked mentions), and Verifications (to fix the nodes you identify in the graph) for a complete internal linking and technical SEO workflow.
