Competitors: Discover, Crawl, and Compare Rival Sites

Use BearAudit's Competitors workflow to find rival domains with Gemini, crawl them as linked properties, and compare entity gaps, quality, schema, linking, PageSpeed, monitoring, and AI plans.

The Competitors page helps you benchmark your property against rival sites using the same crawl and analysis engine BearAudit uses for your own domain. Discover competitors, crawl them, then compare entity coverage, technical SEO, templates, schema, links, speed, and AI-generated catch-up plans—all without leaving the app.

Setup workflow

On the Setup tab:

  1. Add manually — Enter a domain and optional display name in the modal.
  2. Find with Gemini — AI suggests competitors based on your property topics and high-traffic pages; tick suggestions and Save selected.
  3. Crawl all — Creates a linked crawl property per competitor (counts toward your plan’s property limit).

The workflow card tracks progress: add → crawl → open comparisons.

Comparison tabs

After competitors are crawled, each tab uses your site plus linked competitor crawl data:

| Tab | What it compares | | --- | --- | | Entity gap | Extracted entities: leading, trailing, missing on your site | | Site quality | Issue counts, severity, orphans, broken links | | URL structure | Template/pattern coverage vs competitors | | Schema | JSON-LD type gaps | | Linking | Internal link metrics and patterns | | PageSpeed | Mobile/desktop Lighthouse and CWV on homepages | | Monitoring | Competitor baseline deltas over time | | AI plan | Gemini catch-up plan merged into your Action plan | | Chat | Q&A with full competitor comparison context |

Export

Export report (Setup tab) saves a single HTML report via the native save dialog—entity gap, quality, templates, schema, and linking in one client-ready file. (Markdown/CSV bundle exports are not used in the desktop app because WebView downloads are unreliable.)

AI features

  • AI plan — Generates prioritised tasks from all comparison data; Send to Action plan merges tasks into your main property plan.
  • Chat — Ask about gaps, priorities, and next steps; answers render markdown including tables.

Tips

  • Crawl competitors after your own property has entity extraction enabled so gap analysis is meaningful.
  • Use Entity gap first for content strategy; Site quality and PageSpeed for technical benchmarking.
  • Re-crawl competitors periodically and check Monitoring for baseline shifts.
